Equine massage therapy & bodywork is a complementary treatment designed to enhance a horse's physical well-being by improving circulation, relieving muscle tension, and promoting relaxation. However, it is important to understand that massage therapy is not a replacement for veterinary care. While it can help with recovery from injuries, improve mobility, and support overall health, it does not diagnose or treat medical conditions, infections, or serious injuries.
A holistic approach to improving a horse’s physical health and performance. It involves various manual therapy techniques, such as myofascial release, muscle stretching, and joint mobilization, to address muscle tension, pain, and movement restrictions. The goal is to enhance flexibility, range of motion, and overall performance, while also promoting relaxation and preventing injuries. EIPB supports the horse's physical and emotional well-being, working in conjunction with other care practices like veterinary treatment and training to optimize the horse's health and performance.
A specialized form of bodywork aimed at improving the performance, flexibility, and overall well-being of horses engaged in athletic activities. It involves applying targeted massage techniques to the horse's muscles, tendons, and soft tissues to promote relaxation, reduce muscle tension, enhance circulation, and speed up recovery after exercise or competition.
Key benefits include:
Equine sports massage therapy is commonly used for performance horses, helping prevent injuries, alleviate pain, and maintain peak physical condition. It is a safe, non-invasive therapy that complements other treatments and training routines.
A therapeutic technique derived from Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) that involves applying gentle pressure to specific acupoints on a horse's body. These points are located along meridians, which are energy pathways connected to different organs and systems in the body.
The goal of acupressure is to restore balance, stimulate healing, relieve pain, and promote relaxation. It can be used to address a variety of issues, including:
Equine acupressure is a non-invasive, holistic method that can support healing, performance, and emotional balance, making it beneficial for both healthy horses and those recovering from injuries or stress.
A form of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) bodywork that combines techniques like massage, acupressure, and joint mobilization to promote healing, improve flexibility, and enhance overall performance in horses. The practitioner uses their hands to manipulate the horse’s muscles, soft tissues, and acupoints along energy pathways (meridians) to restore balance and encourage the flow of Qi (vital energy).
Key benefits of equine Tui Na include:
Equine Tui Na is used for both performance enhancement and rehabilitation, supporting horses in maintaining physical and emotional well-being.
A specialized, gentle massage technique designed to stimulate the horse's lymphatic system and improve the flow of lymph fluid. The lymphatic system helps to remove toxins, waste, and excess fluid from the body, and MLD focuses on enhancing this process to promote healing and overall health.
EQ MLD is commonly used in rehabilitation settings, such as for horses recovering from surgery, injury, or illness, and can help address conditions like lymphedema or fluid retention. It is non-invasive, soothing, and can be tailored to the individual needs of the horse.
A gentle, holistic therapy that can benefit animals of all species, from companion animals like dogs and cats to horses, birds, and even wildlife. It is a safe, non-invasive practice that supports the animal’s overall health, emotional well-being, and healing process. Animal Reiki is a gentle, non-invasive therapy that helps animals recover, find peace, and maintain a balanced state of health.
A form of controlled, low-intensity exercise where a handler walks alongside a horse, holding the lead rope, and guides the horse at a slow pace. This activity is commonly used in horse rehabilitation, recovery, and conditioning programs.
Hand walking serves several purposes, such as:
Hand walking is typically done at a slow, steady pace, and the duration and intensity can be adjusted based on the horse’s needs and recovery progress. It is often recommended as part of a rehabilitation or fitness plan and is usually supervised by a trained professional to ensure the safety and well-being of the horse.
Your horse will likely show signs of relaxation, such as yawning, licking, and chewing. If I'm working on a sore area, they may become tense but will generally relax once that area is treated. They may lower their head, drop their ears to the side, and even nap.
Please have your horse groomed and ready for the appointment. Horses should not be turned out or blanketed at the time of their session.
Ideally, you should be present during the first session, as I'll take a history and gather important information about past illnesses or injuries. You are welcome to attend subsequent massages, but it is not mandatory.
After each massage session, you will receive a detailed treatment report via email. I encourage you to share this report with other members of your horse's team, such as your trainer, vet, and chiropractor.
After a massage session, I recommend hand-walking your horse for about 15 minutes, if possible. Following the walk, your horse should be allowed to rest in their stall with access to a full water bucket. It’s fine to go for a light ride the following day, but be aware that your horse may be a little sore. Since each case can vary, please contact us if you're unsure, and we can let you know if any exercise restrictions are needed.
I accept cash, credit cards, Venmo, and checks. Payment is due at the time services are rendered, and a late fee will be applied if payment is not received within 30 days.
My cancellation policy requires 24 hours' notice. I understand that things can come up and are happy to waive the cancellation fee as long as we receive notice 24 hours in advance.
