Karen Katzmark, HHP

Hi, I’m Karen.

I am a Holistic Health Practitioner (HHP) with over two decades of experience in therapeutic massage and bodywork, and more than ten years working hands-on with horses. My work has moved between human massage, equine bodywork, teaching, and quiet, behind-the-scenes care — always with an emphasis on listening, presence, and respect.

Over the years, I’ve worked as a massage instructor, clinic supervisor, equine bodyworker, and equine-assisted learning facilitator/equine specialist in therapy and horse rescue settings. These experiences have given me a deep appreciation for how humans and horses mirror, steady, and teach one another.

My work now continues to grow at a gentler pace, rooted in the same values: kindness, clarity, and honoring the nervous system — human and equine.

Right now, my professional life is centered around three main areas:

• Massage & Teaching
  I continue to teach and support massage students, helping them develop hands-on skills, body mechanics, and awareness-based practice.
   
• Equine Bodywork
  I offer whole-horse bodywork through my equine practice, Demi Equine Services, focusing on gentle, horse-led sessions that support comfort and mobility.
   
• Administrative & Reflective Work
  I maintain a small professional office for administrative work, session planning, and ongoing study, as I continue to integrate the threads of human bodywork, equine work, and lived experience.

My equine bodywork practice lives under the name Demi Equine Services, serving horses and their people in Sacramento County and surrounding areas.

Sessions are quiet, horse-centered, and guided by the horse’s responses, with an emphasis on whole-horse comfort, pacing, and relationship.
